MHP-2002 WNK

Modern Home Products

This is a newer version of the WNK. A 30 year old version can be seen on the Modern Home Products WNK link to the left. This one sits on a stainless steel and cast aluminum patio base. The shelf and side burner are rigid and won't drop down.

These are the aluminum "sear" grids. They are sturdy, but I prefer the stainless steel grids. The warming rack is a "swing away" type and stainless steel.

The hinge pin was frozen on the older model, so I checked this one. You can prevent that problem by pulling them out every few years and cleaning them. It's much easier than drilling them out after they have frozen and broken!

Closer view of the aluminum sear grids. The grids may be reversed for a flat cooking surface.

Here is the recently replaced burner with the electrode/collector box in front.

The electrode/collector box, part #GG-IB. The old one might have to be twisted out or cut off with a grinder to change. You could just manually light them through a hole in the right side.

The bottom of the burner showing the mounting rear pins which are secured by cotter pins. Easily removed with a pair of needle nose pliers.

Clear picture of the valve assembly which has a "T" installed to feed the side burner which has its own control valve. I was only able to find the side burner listed with the WNK3 page. Email me using the contact form and I'll look up the parts for it.

This one still had the rotary twist type igniter-#GG-IR, which can be replaced by a universal part.

The knobs slip off showing the valve stems.

The reason I came here is because the old plastic handle to the side burner cover broke. They listed as not available, but MHP still has a few. You will have to call them for that or use the newer steel handle which is an inch wider and will require drilling new holes.

The broken plastic handle.

The side burner is very basic and uses a push button igniter.

The newer stainless steel handle will last forever.

The MHP WNK is still made in the USA. It's a heavy old fashion type gas grill made to last!
