Patio Kitchen 4638824

This is the Patio Kitchen 4638824 that is made by Charbroil. The 463 on the front of the model number is a Charbroil model indicator. If you're looking for parts you might not find the number listed under Patio Kitchen. Charbroil either made them with the brand name or bought the name when the original company failed. It does use common Charbroil parts which are available from several aftermarket suppliers like Music City and ModernHome Products. It’s a cheap grill but can last for years if the valve doesn't rust.

Img 2556 - Here the 4638824 is missing the grate for the side burner. The gas supply to the side burner was cut and taped up with electrical tape. I replaced that with a single hose as people don't use the side burners that much.

Img 2557 - The spec plate is on the lower bracket in the back of the grill.

IMG 2558

Img 2558 - The grids, flame tamer, and burner are still good. The flame tamer and burner are both easily found universal parts that can last a few years. And sometimes can be found locally and cheap.

IMG 2559

Img 2559 - The flexible venturi are locked in by big cotter pins. It’s a good idea to use them as it’s not hard for the venturi to loosen and fall off.I

IMG 2561

mg 2561 - The burner is still good. I swabbed the venturi and brushed off the gas ports. You might have to blow out the burner with compressed air.

IMG 2562

Img 2562 - The burner is top ported and the heat plate/heat tent really needs to be used to shield the top ported burner clean from the grease. It is possible to use a rock grate and lava or ceramic rock. You would have to measure and size up the space to find a rock grate. But it’s OK to do that. I would then use the heat tent on top of the grate as I've never been able to put the grate in the grill on top of the heat tent. It won't work.

IMG 2563

Img 2563 - I decided to get rid of the old hose with the taped up stub to the side burner which probably leaks. The old one is crimped on and I would have to find a threaded manifold for the valve. Or I would have to cut the end off a standard hose and use a hose clamp to attach it.

IMG 2610

Img 2610 - I'm using a hose clamp and a standard hose. It’s not a repair recommended by any factory and often is not listed as an acceptable fix by local gas codes. So if you cannot ensure that you've made a safe connect, get a technician to do the work for you. Always check carefully for leaks and test the grill carefully anytime you've opened the gas system and reconnected it.
IMG 2611
Img 2611 - I have to remove the clamp holding the hose to the manifold. That’s the center part of the valve the gas hose attaches to.

IMG 2612

Img 2612 - This photo shows using a hack saw to cut through the clamp. A nice sharp blade with fine points is better.

IMG 2613

Img 2613 - I had to find a place to make the cut. After that, I needed to separate it from the hose.

IMG 2616

Img 2616 - I used an ice pick to separate the clamp.

IMG 2617

Img 2617 - Here is the valve assembly, with the hose off, showing the nozzle. I will cut the end off a new hose and mount it using a hose clamp to secure.

IMG 2624

Img 2624 - Had to push a lot to get the hose to the end of the nozzle. But I like to have enough hose on the end to secure the hose clamp.

IMG 2625

Img 2625 - This photo shows the stainless steel hose clamp attached. Be careful not to strip the clamp. Tighten it snug, but not more. I will secure the gas line to the tank and test with soapy water for leaks.

IMG 2626

Img 2626 - Here we have soapy water on the connection with the gas pressure on. Always be sure! Check for leaks and test!
IMG 2627
Img 2627 - Next I have reinstalled the burner making sure to use the big cotter pins to secure the venturi to the valve orifices. Then I tested the burner, installed the heat plate and grids. The grill is ready to go. I could have used any universal handle but to save money I left it alone. I've often used a pair of vise grips as a temporary handle. We don't show this model page but we do offer the parts off our main Charbroil page:
