Answers to All Your Gas Grill Repair & Maintenance Needs!

Table top grills come in all different sizes and shapes.  They range from your basic Charbroil table top shown in this article to some that can go for $200. If you have one of the cheap ones, like the Charbroil, I don't recommend just replacing the valve since it will likely need the burner, too.  It won't last that long if you just fix the valve. The valves will cost between $12.95 plus shipping to as much as $35 plus shipping.  So be sure to inspect the burner and flame tamer before you order. Crunch your numbers to make a final decision!

Below are 3 different table top valves.  All of them are made to slide into the open venture opening of the burner. They are usually held by a cotter pin or screw in.  You can safely improvise another valve if it will fit into the burner venture opening and can be held there without the risk of the valve with the disposable tank slipping out.  Wire could be used to keep the unit attached to the grill. Don't forget to check the manual or look up safety issues on line!

The first valve/regulator, as seen in Img 2101-CLA MCM #31120, has a solid aluminum extension with an orifice that is an uncommon thread size. The next two images, Img 2102 and 2103, use a common NPT thread. If your old orifice has a standard thread you can easily use the old orifice on the CLA #R6000, but you might require a bushing to fit the new valve regulator.

Check your work for leaks and test carefully before using the grill!!

Img 2098-3 - This image shows different table top valve regulators. Note the different orifices and the regulator extension. The first one uses an uncommon orifice while the next 2 use standard pipe threads for the orifice which can be adapted with standard fittings.

Img 2101 - This is MCM #31120 table top regulator, used mostly with the old Sunbeam table top grills, is no longer available. It is still made and might show up in some of the other table tops on the market. The orifice is odd and not interchangeable with the standard orifices shown in the other pictures.
